Getting a definite answer for these might be impossible. It will largely depend on actions from every level: scientists, governments and the general public, and how well we adhere to these. These vary from country to country, but with the help of technology, we can find answers for this public health crisis.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u003Cstrong>Monitoring data from home\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In order to have an approximation of when one can see the light at the end of the coronavirus tunnel, people have been keeping track of the number of cases, which only keeps increasing. Online interactive dashboards like those from \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fgisanddata.maps.arcgis.com\u002Fapps\u002Fopsdashboard\u002Findex.html#\u002Fbda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6\" target=\"_blank\">Johns Hopkins University\u003C\u002Fa> and \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.bing.com\u002Fcovid\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft\u003C\u002Fa> are effective ways to keep track of the spread. The team will do so by studying the viral proteins’ interactions with human ones and freely share their results as they emerge.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>With such endeavours, \u003Cstrong>it’s not a matter of if we will get a vaccine\u003C\u002Fstrong>;\u003Cstrong> it’s a matter of when we will get it\u003C\u002Fstrong>. And for the case of the novel coronavirus, we’re on the fast track.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When will COVID-19 end? \u003Cstrong>Three scenarios\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>To visualize how the anticipated end of COVID-19 can unfold, we analyze three scenarios below. Of course, other developments can influence these scenarios, leading to different outcomes. However, the following gives a general trajectory of where we can be headed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When will COVID-19 end? &#8211; Scenario #1\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp> In the most optimistic case, we could follow the Far East’s path. China’s swift and strict lockdowns led to the cases of new infections to plummet by March, \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.theguardian.com\u002Fworld\u002F2020\u002Fmar\u002F20\u002Fchinese-life-slowly-gets-back-to-normal-as-the-epidemic-subsides-coronavirus\" target=\"_blank\">according to official reports\u003C\u002Fa>. South Korea had a success story thanks in part to \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Ftheconversation.com\u002Fcoronavirus-south-koreas-success-in-controlling-disease-is-due-to-its-acceptance-of-surveillance-134068\" target=\"_blank\">surveillance\u003C\u002Fa>, with individual bank transactions and phone use tracked to identify those infected. Such stringent measures might not be applicable everywhere; but drastic measures are effective to curb the spread as shown by \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.imperial.ac.uk\u002Fmedia\u002Fimperial-college\u002Fmedicine\u002Fsph\u002Fide\u002Fgida-fellowships\u002FImperial-College-COVID19-NPI-modelling-16-03-2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">an analysis from the Imperial College London\u003C\u002Fa>. However, many countries adopted such measures late or even downplayed the severity of the virus. These include software to keep track of the COVID-19 spread, apps to receive healthcare remotely and even physical phones for contact tracing. However, some of these apps might hide malicious software that can harm your device. However, considering that COVID-19 spreads between people \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.who.int\u002Fnews-room\u002Fq-a-detail\u002Fq-a-coronaviruses\" target=\"_blank\">within a few feet from each other\u003C\u002Fa>, a more accurate method would be more reliable. \u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In South Korea, “safety guidance texts” sent by authorities contained private information of people that others could access. This led to the exposure of embarrassing \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.theguardian.com\u002Fworld\u002F2020\u002Fmar\u002F06\u002Fmore-scary-than-coronavirus-south-koreas-health-alerts-expose-private-lives\" target=\"_blank\">private information and rumor-mongering\u003C\u002Fa>.
