Additionally, two patients can have different #\u003Cem>longcovid\u003C\u002Fem> experiences, with different symptoms, which can last for \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.medrxiv.org\u002Fcontent\u002F10.1101\u002F2020.10.19.20214494v1.full-text\" target=\"_blank\">a month or as long as 12 weeks\u003C\u002Fa>. But even though this juvenile term is not part of medical terminology yet, it might soon be. &#8220;\u003Cem>We&#8217;ve got no doubt long Covid exists,\u003C\u002Fem>&#8221; Professor David Strain, from the University of Exeter, \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.bbc.com\u002Fnews\u002Fhealth-54296223\" target=\"_blank\">told the BBC\u003C\u002Fa>. At his Chronic Fatigue Syndrome clinic, Prof. Strain is already seeing those he describes as long-Covid patients. Other researchers in \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fjamanetwork.com\u002Fjournals\u002Fjama\u002Ffullarticle\u002F2768351\" target=\"_blank\">Italy\u003C\u002Fa>, \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.medrxiv.org\u002Fcontent\u002F10.1101\u002F2020.07.29.20164293v1\" target=\"_blank\">Ireland\u003C\u002Fa> and the \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.bbc.com\u002Fnews\u002Fhealth-54296223\" target=\"_blank\">U.K.\u003C\u002Fa> have reported persistent symptoms in COVID-positive patients after getting discharged. Some of those infected during the SARS and MERS outbreaks also \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.medicaljournals.se\u002Fjrm\u002Fcontent\u002Fabstract\u002F10.2340\u002F16501977-2694\" target=\"_blank\">reported long-term health problems\u003C\u002Fa>; both of which are members of the coronavirus family.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u003Cstrong>And digital health in all that?\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>However, unlike previous outbreaks, in 2020 we are living in the digital health age when technologies available today weren’t so widespread until a couple of years ago. Hence, we decided to explore the digital health technologies that could help manage some long COVID symptoms right at home.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u003Cstrong>1. They send regular notifications to nudge you to take a few steps every hour, which accumulates to thousands of steps by the end of the day. Keep in mind that it’s not rigorous exercise but rather daily walks that get the engines running. Full-blown physical activity after recovering from an infection like COVID-19 can do more harm than good.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u003Cstrong>2. Low grade fever: Keeping tabs on your body temperature\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Such a symptom can leave one bedridden for hours; without mentioning the lingering pesky side-effects like headaches and muscle aches. Seeking medical care and taking medication on time could avert such complications. South Korea \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Ftheconversation.com\u002Fcoronavirus-south-koreas-success-in-controlling-disease-is-due-to-its-acceptance-of-surveillance-134068\" target=\"_blank\">went the extra mile\u003C\u002Fa> by using CCTV footage and bank transactions in addition to phone use in its tracing process.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>This could lead to certain governments, in particular totalitarian ones, to erase a layer of privacy from citizens’ life. It brings a whole new dimension to privacy and ethical issues like we’ve seen in \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.theguardian.com\u002Fworld\u002F2020\u002Fmar\u002F06\u002Fmore-scary-than-coronavirus-south-koreas-health-alerts-expose-private-lives\" target=\"_blank\">South Korea\u003C\u002Fa>.
