To respond to that question as thoroughly as possible, we launched our Great Thinkers article series to introduce the visions of the most brilliant thought-leaders from numerous industries with the broadest range of views possible. It’s an incredible journey towards the future, and we invite you to take part in it.
Will robots take our jobs? Could science make us immortal? Could virtual reality and digital communication ruin our relationships? How will our houses, our cars, and our everyday lives look in the next 20, 40 or 60 years? Instead of apocalyptic scenarios and utopian visions, we wanted to dive deep under the surface and understand the most possible options for our communities.
That’s why we
launched the Great Thinkers article series to explore future prospects in as
many fields as possible and to be able to prepare for whatever comes next. No
matter whether it’s about education, art, astronomy or cooking, we are extremely enthusiastic and curious about what we might find. We will
keep asking the most brilliant thinkers around the globe about their expertise
and about their visions of the future for as long as we haven’t built a
detailed and realistic mental image about the coming years.
As scientific fields influence and enhance each other sometimes through the most unexpected intersections, we are confident that our notions about healthcare and medicine will get enriched in unimaginable ways. Moreover, they will help us immensely not only to imagine our lives in the 2030s or 2060s but also prepare for it as best as possible.

Do robots dream about humanity?
As the Editor-in-Chief of The Medical Futurist, I
believe The Great Thinkers series has a
special place in our portfolio as it is as much of an exquisite outlook to “foreign territories” as an extravagant challenge for the entire team to offer you a comprehensive view
about the future beyond medicine and health.
Episode 01 of the series is quite an unusual piece from many perspectives. Beyond introducing the visionary of digital health and the leader of The Medical Futurist team, the interview also pins down the ars poetica of Dr. Bertalan Mesko and the mission of The Medical Futurist. Unlike all the other pieces, where Dr. Mesko has a dialogue with various industry experts and known visionaries, this one was a conversation between Dr. Mesko and me – about daily struggles, individual and team goals as well as life on Mars and astronomy in general.
Episode 02 presents a conversation with Martin Ford about robots, artificial intelligence, automation and how all these phenomena will impact society and economy in the long term. He shared his thoughts about what kind of jobs will get replaced in the near future, how an average person’s life might be changed 15-20 years from now, or whether humans could end up in an existential crisis in a society with less work and more robots. In the next weeks, we will continue with Robert Scoble, a re-known pioneer in VR, Zoltan Istvan transhumanist or Andrew Hessel, CEO of Humane Genomics.
