With the help of telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom, researchers from the University College London created an online game for the early detection and finding a possible treatment for dementia. According to their website, “over 4.3 million players played for over 117 years in total, providing scientists with data that would have taken traditional dementia research 176 centuries to collect.” The science behind the game focused on one of the first signs of dementia: loss of navigational skills.
