We create this list year after year and it is always among our most popular, most shared visuals. Our aim here is not to create a ranking or a toplist, but to highlight companies to watch this year.

The reason to publish this list is simple: the digital health realm is saturated with hype, and distinguishing the promising players from the noise is a challenge. The annual list is our way of cutting through the clamor to spotlight those we believe are genuinely making strides in this space.

Just like in previous years, we don’t accept any sponsorship or financial support. We do not have any interest or connection in any of the companies listed in the infographic either. Additionally, grouping is not done in any particular order. Rather, companies are grouped according to the technological trend they belong to the most.

Our analyses are based on discussions we have with actors across the digital health and AI landscape. From startups through government authorities to prominent innovators, we determined the major features that a company venturing into digital health must possess to hold potential in the field.

The creation of our list is a forward-looking process. We focus on the upcoming year, pinpointing companies poised to make significant impacts. 

Many ask us about the criteria for making it onto this list, and we receive numerous emails inquiring about the selection process. The simple truth is there’s no ticket to inclusion. Our team tracks the market, scrutinizes news, and reads studies all day, every day to make informed choices.

What has changed from 2024 to 2025?

The digital health landscape is always evolving, companies come and go, therefore there have been some changes:

Out: A total of 12 companies from last year’s list are no longer present. The reasons vary: some have ceased operations, others have faded from the public eye, a few have pivoted to new directions, while some faced bankruptcy or were marred by concerning news.

Changed focus: Two companies underwent a minor shift in their focus areas. PathAI doesn’t focus on health management any more, and we added the category lab testing to Vitestro.

Changed name: Two companies have changed names. Alivecor is now Kardia, and ReWalk Robotics is called LifeWard.

Seven key takeaways from the 2025 list

• There are simply too many AI-oriented companies to find meaningful differences therefore we looked for outstanding examples of focus areas. Everyone is doing AI these days. Even if they technically don’t.
• It’s still really challenging to provide digital therapeutics no matter how much evidence has been growing behind the technology in studies.
• Direct-to-consumer genomics is still a risky business.
• The biggest number of companies getting out of our list involved working on expensive hardware-oriented technologies from virtual reality (3 companies got removed) to robotics (2 companies).
• Among the new ones, you will find big players in the healthcare scene such as Siemens Healthcare.
• The more niche focus a company has, the higher the success rate, in our experience. Qvin, analyzing menstrual blood, is a good example.
• Digital health devices come and go. Wahoo is now focusing only on fitness, while Heart Sentinel, Sibionics, Strados Labs and Smart Rescue came into the picture.
