The \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Ffortune.com\u002F2017\u002F11\u002F30\u002Famazon-artificial-intelligence-google\u002F\">company’s A.I. technology\u003C\u002Fa> like&nbsp;Amazon Rekognition Video, Amazon Transcribe and Amazon Comprehend could become integral parts of this system so as to offer telemedicine services to its employees. On top of this, a \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Ftechcrunch.com\u002F2019\u002F04\u002F04\u002Famazon-alexa-launches-its-first-hipaa-compliant-medical-skills\u002F\">medically-oriented Alexa\u003C\u002Fa> could be added to the mix, test running it with Amazon’s employees to advise users on mild conditions at home, without the need to see a doctor.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Google will launch a new line of trackers because of the Fitbit acquisition.\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Google’s shock move to \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.theverge.com\u002F2019\u002F11\u002F1\u002F20943318\u002Fgoogle-fitbit-acquisition-fitness-tracker-announcement\">acquire Fitbit\u003C\u002Fa> won’t be for naught, especially considering the tech giant’s low presence in the fitness industry. Google’s past efforts in the said industry like the Google Fit app and its \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.mobihealthnews.com\u002Fcontent\u002Fgoogle-pays-40m-fossil-mystery-smartwatch-tech-reportedly-misfit\">$40M purchase of Fossil\u003C\u002Fa> haven’t resulted in much. On the other hand, getting Fitbit on board, a company that boasts \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.statista.com\u002Ftopics\u002F2595\u002Ffitbit\u002F\">over 27 million active users and nearly 90 million devices sold worldwide\u003C\u002Fa>, gives Google a much needed boost in the fitness industry race. The company’s \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fverily.com\u002Fprojects\u002Fprecision-medicine\u002Fproject-baseline\u002F\">Verily’s Project Baseline\u003C\u002Fa> depends on reliable hardware and a significant number of potential participants as soon as possible for its studies to gain steam, and Fitbit’s acquisition offers exactly that.&nbsp;\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Google’s strides in the fitness market might also help drive competition forward with companies like Amazon and Facebook making similar acquisitions and offering competitive products and services.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. An A.I. startup using A.I. for drug design decided to become a pharma company and run the trial themselves.\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>A.I. startups and big pharma collaborations for drug design are quite common. Those A.I. companies provide the simulation technology and computational models for a drug’s development, while the pharma company sees the project till completion.&nbsp; However, this collaboration often comes to a close as soon as the project ends and the A.I. startup no longer has any say on the drug’s fate. A 5G application will be deployed in a healthcare setting \u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>As mobile carriers \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Ffortune.com\u002F2019\u002F11\u002F22\u002Fatt-5g-pricing-where\u002F#:~:targetText=T%2DMobile%2C%20which%20is%20trying,the%20first%20half%20of%202020.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">launch their 5G services this year\u003C\u002Fa> and the proper infrastructure to support and propagate the technology gets laid out, we’re likely to see at least one practical setting in healthcare. We expect to see the trend get picked up by at least one US healthcare provider, whose service, powered by 5G, will be faster and more reliable, and hence more competitive.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. At least 5 countries will follow Germany&#8217;s and Denmark&#8217;s example in officially embracing digital health.\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In our \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmedicalfuturist.com\u002Fnational-digital-health-strategies-around-the-world\u002F\" target=\"_blank\">article assessing national digital health strategies\u003C\u002Fa>, we couldn’t find a single flaw in Denmark’s strategy. The Danish government’s clear vision and calculated steps set an example for others to follow. \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.politico.eu\u002Farticle\u002Fgermany-aims-to-become-eu-leader-in-digital-health-revamp\u002F\" target=\"_blank\">Germany has been making serious moves\u003C\u002Fa> to turn itself into the digital health reference in Europe with its plans like equipping all insured patients with electronic health records and tightening data security. Following in those countries’ footsteps, there will be at least 5 countries which will push forward digital health strategies.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp> While there are \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmedicalfuturist.com\u002Fnational-digital-health-strategies-around-the-world\u002F\" target=\"_blank\">other notable examples\u003C\u002Fa> in national digital health strategies, we speculate that other countries will follow the trend. This will be driven by the fact that the countries taking the lead will continue doing so, unless the rest also enter the race and announce their very own national policies.
